Ouskh’s Amazing Journey
We are so thrilled to share some truly heartwarming updates about Ouskh, who many of you will fondly remember from last year. Ouskh has had a whirlwind few months since leaving Heath Park and his journey has been nothing short of inspiring!
- First of all, we nominated Ouskh for the Wolverhampton Citizen Of The Year Award where he reached the finals and attended the awards evening (Thanks Lisa for your support with this).
- We then nominated Ouskh for the Nick Shaffery Student Of The Year Award which he won!!
- As a result of this success, Helen Bourton (Connect Ed) put his name forward for the Youth Sport Trust Young Changemakers Award, which he won for the whole of the UK!!
Fast forward a few months and the Youth Sport Trust wanted to come and see Ouskh at Heath Park to interview him and find out more about his journey
Upon meeting Ouskh, the Youth Sport Trust and their partners Sports Direct were taken back by him and his journey. So much so that they gave us hospitality tickets at Wembley to go and watch England vs Ireland last Sunday. We cannot explain how happy he was, he did not stop smiling the entire day, including looking back over his photos for the whole train journey home.
3 days later we were back in London again for the YST Young Changemakers Awards where Ouskh’s award was presented by Sir Mo Farah. Ouskh’s surprises weren’t finished there, when speaking to Mo, Ouskh declared his love for Chelsea Football Club, to which Mo handed him a phone with a personalised message from former Chelsea and England Captain John Terry – who stated that he would send Ouskh a signed shirt and some tickets to watch Chelsea play.
As if this wasn’t enough, Sports Direct then handed Ouskh a bag full of Nike Football boots, trainers, coats, training gear and gift vouchers.
I think it’s fair to say he has had an incredible few months but the most humbling part of the whole journey is that he wanted me to share his award with him as in his words:
“Heath Park won this and we are all family”.
