Health and Social Care Students Become “Disease Detectives”
Year 9 Health and Social Care students attended a pathology based event at New Cross Hospital called, Disease Detectives.
Students were introduced to careers in pathology and key concepts in health care.
The students enjoyed hands-on experience in a cellular pathology laboratory, examining their own cells under a microscope; they visited a mass spectrometry laboratory analysing ‘urine’; students explored microbiology, following a patient’s journey in their diagnosis and treatment preventing infection and finally they enjoyed gruesome demonstrations based on microbiology.
