Prefect Roles and Responsibilites

Roles:

  • Head Prefect: Oversees the prefect team, communicates with school leadership, and takes a lead role in student activities.
  • Deputy Head Prefect: Assists the Head Prefect and steps in during their absence.
  • Senior Prefects: Manage activities across KS4, encourage participation, and lead their respective teams in inter-house competitions.
  • Junior Prefects: Carry out assigned duties across KS3 (e.g., monitoring classes, library, or lunch areas).

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example in conduct, dress, and academic effort.
  • Act as mediators between students and staff, addressing minor issues or concerns.
  • Support the organisation of school events, clubs, assemblies, and other activities.
  • Assist in maintaining discipline and order within the school through supporting duty.
  • Represent the school in official events or external activities.
  • Attend Student Leadership meetings (one per HT) and actively engage in a focus group to work towards school improvement within eight key areas- Curriculum, Careers, Behaviour and Rewards, Inclusion and Diversity, Wider Opportunities, Health and well-being, School environment and Community and Teaching and Learning.

Prefects must adhere to the following:

  • Display Heath Park Values and Traits in all interactions.
  • Be punctual and reliable in fulfilling their duties.
  • Refrain from using their position for personal gain or favoritism.
  • Maintain confidentiality where necessary. the school or prefect team into disrepute.
