It gives me great pleasure to welcome you as a parent interested in sending your child to Heath Park. I am confident that children will find the years spent with us valuable, successful and happy. Education is a partnership between pupils, parents and teachers which achieves results when we work together.
We are clear at Heath Park about our priorities. Firstly, that children should be happy. Secondly, that the school should offer a wide range of learning activities and opportunities in and out of the classroom. Thirdly, that all children are encouraged to achieve their full potential whatever their abilities. Only if the first two are promoted can this third and most important aim be fully realised.
Heath Park is one of the highest achieving open-access comprehensive schools in the Borough in terms of examination results. It has received both local and national recognition for its achievements. The number of children achieving 5+ GCSE passes at the top grades has consistently been in excess of 40% and the number achieving some level of success overall has regularly been as high as 99%. The number of students transferring directly to University is steadily increasing every year.
We also wish to see this school take its rightful place at the heart of its community. Our Parents', Staff & Friends' Association is thriving and plays an increasingly important part in the life of the school. We want to be a school for the community - not just a school in the community. This prospectus will, I trust, answer many of your questions. Please keep it for future reference. We recommend that you visit whilst the school is actually open so that you can see at first hand the thing of which we are proudest - the children themselves.
